Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme

Office for Low Emission Vehicles Approved Installers
The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is a Government grant that provides a 75% contribution to the cost of one charge point and its installation. A grant cap is set at £350 (including VAT) per installation. The main requirement is that a person owns, leases, or has ordered a qualifying vehicle and has dedicated off-street parking at their property. A person may apply for two charge points at the same property if they have two qualifying vehicles.

As EVHS approved installers, EV Future Solutions can check if you qualify for a grant and we apply on your behalf.

Customer Requirements

You will qualify if they have a qualifying vehicle and property as detailed below.

You are not permitted to claim for a grant if you have previously claimed against the scheme (or its predecessor, the Domestic Recharge Scheme) unless you own two eligible electric vehicles concurrently in which case a second charge point grant can be claimed. This includes if you:

  • have previously claimed against the Domestic Recharge Scheme
  • move property
  • purchase a new charge point, even if it is for a new car that is not compatible with the old one
  • update an old charge point to a new one
  • want to claim against the cost of moving an existing charge point to a new property

If you are moving to a new house with an old charge point and wish to replace it, you would be eligible for the grant (providing you have not previously claimed against the scheme and all other requirements are met).

Which vehicles qualify for the EVHS?

All vehicles that have been approved as ultra-low emission vehicles by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) are eligible for the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme.

This includes vehicles that may no longer be eligible for the plug-in car grant, either because they exceed the category 2 or 3 price cap or they are no longer on sale in the UK.
